I am currently based in Warsaw and, inspired by the Scandinavian Cello School’s emergency residency, Aleksandra Bobrowska and I have teamed up with networks of musicians including the BYOM Academy to help Ukrainian professional and student musicians move through countries bordering Ukraine to take up positions or residencies, or to reach relatives, friends or musician colleagues who can accommodate them.
People are traumatised when they arrive, but we try to make as safe and nurtured as possible. So far we have helped girls safely stay in Warsaw before flying on to Denmark, or taking the train to Berlin. We have also supported their mothers in finding spaces to live nearby. We will update this page and the fundraising page with more stories.
